Land corruption

Youth, Nature, and Land Corruption: Tools, Inclusion, and Innovation

Join us for an engaging session exploring how young people are shaping integrity, inclusion, and innovation in the fight against land corruption. From illegal logging and wildlife trafficking to land grabbing and weakened conservation governance, environmental corruption directly affects youth. But young leaders around the world are also driving creative, community-centered solutions.

The speakers from the panel are:

  • Romy Sato, Research & Knowledge Manager, Land Portal Foundation
  • Marcel Loyd Minka, Team Leader for Youth Empowerment & Capacity Building, Youth Initiative for Land in Africa (YILAA)
  • Shambhavi Poudel, Senior Officer, Conservation Education, WWF Nepal

Romy Sato will provide insights from the Land and Youth Digital Conference held in September by the Land Portal. Marcel Loyd MINKA will present on how youths can be empowered to address triggers of environmental corruption—such as illegal logging, wildlife trafficking, and land grabbing—using innovative and inclusive approaches. Shambhavi will share how youth have helped strengthen integrity in forest conservation efforts and the approaches used to build youth leadership and meaningful participation.

The meeting will be held in English on Zoom and is open to members of the Countering Environmental Corruption Practitioners Forum and its Land Corruption Working Group, as well as anyone interested in joining.
