This workshop explored the immense potential that cooperation with financial institutions may bring to the anti-corruption movement in the context of the wildlife crime setting. The discussion focused on three questions:
Panelists discussed the importance of:
building more awareness about money-laundering links to corruption and environmental crimes;
implementing follow-the-money approaches to uncover environmental crimes;
analyzing financial data to uncover illicit schemes;
facilitating cooperation from public and non-governmental actors to identify typologies, crime impact, and best practice; and
reporting on the success/performance of cooperation institutions.
